Historically, renters have had limited options for improving the energy efficiency and comforts of their rental property.
New energy efficiency standards will be phased in from 1 March 2027, but in the meantime there are a number of things you can do. These include comparing energy plans and improving insulation by replacing old curtains or installing non-permanent window film.
Some energy-efficiency improvements will require your landlord’s permission but can’t be refused without a good reason.
